Summer Tour Plus

Welcome to the Morikami's summer camp tour program!  Take your students on a captivating discovery of Japanese culture, art, gardens, food and more. For information, call 561-495-0233 ext 210 or email to mmtours@pbcgov.org

Tour Program:

  1. A Guided Tour of the Exhibit
    Explore the Exhibit, Wood be Kindred Spirits: The Kokeshi Dolls of Robert J. Brokop
  2. Hands-On Art: Kokeshi Creations
    Design a Japanese-style doll using the traditional patterns we supply or create a modern version using your imagination!
  3. Tanabata Time!
    View photographs of this Japanese holiday as it was celebrated in Brazil! Listen and look while the Tanabata folktale is shared, and write a wish to hang on a bamboo branch as people all over Japan do!
  4. On your own
    Visit our new exhibit in the Yamato-Kan, Japan Through the Eyes of a Child, and enjoy the Japanese Gardens complete with bridges, stone lanterns, and colorful koi.

Other Information About Your School Tour
Leave time to experience The Morikami at an unrushed pace allowing time for questions and enjoyment of the surroundings after your visit. Plan at least an extra hour if you wish to see everything. Wear comfortable shoes. There is a lot of walking involved in visiting The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens.

Lake Biwa Pavillion which is located at the entrance to Morikami Park is a covered area with facilities to accommodate school groups for lunch on a first come first served basis. While it is usually available during the week, reservations can be made by calling 561-966-6611.

The museum does not have facilities to refrigerate or store lunches. There are public restrooms in the park, as well as open areas to run off excess energy.
